I am a beginning therapist working mainly with children & adolescents ages 5-17. I
have a special interest in working with trauma survivors - specifically childhood sexual
abuse and parental loss (either through death or separation.) I am looking to share
experiences, ideas and support. I will be graduating this Spring (Graduate Degree in
Social Work) from New York University. My undergraduate studies were completed at the
University of Minnesota - received degree in Child Psychology in June of 1993. I have
lived in New York for six years now, but do see myself moving back to Minnesota (my home
state) and would love to communicate with social work professionals in Minnesota. I
have a great deal of experience in working with children in a variety of settings; (foster
care, shelters, Pediatric AIDS, and currently outpatient mental health clinic. While my
main interest is clinical work with children I also have 3 years of experience in Program
Development and Fundraising. Currently, my focus is clinical social work. I do, however,
see myself combining my professional experiences at some point in my career. I am now
looking to sharpen my clinical skills - specifically in the areas I have mentioned
(childhood sexual abuse & parental loss.) I am doing a great deal of research and work
with children and adolescents suffering from PTSD, adjustment d/o, depression and
attachment d/o.

I work with reactive attachment disordered young boys. Most, if not all the boys, where
prenatally exposed to drugs and/or alcohol. They have all experienced neglect and many
have been sexual and physically abused. Traditional "talk therapy" and pure
behavioral therapy are not effective with these young men. I am exploring attachment
theory and I have a back ground in art and theatre.

I'm very much happy finding out you website. I'm presently a member of PASWI
and also connected with Bantay-Bata 163, a project of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. As
one of the biggest media company in the Philippines, they have decided to create
a project which would greatly help children. Bantay-Bata 163 aims to use to
media as a catalyst in the effort to help children in crisis. This project has a
hotline which is the "163" who would accommodate calls from concerned
citizens reporting child abuse cases in their area. The project hired competent
social workers who usually conduct rescue to victims of physical, sexual,
emotional, psychological abuse and also child labor related problems. Most of
the time, the social workers main responsibility is to conduct counselling to
the victims as well as the victim's family.

I have nearly 30 years experience in clinical work having worked with
alcoholic and depressed clients in an agency setting and with a more general
population of clients in private practice. Currently, my practice consists
mostly of clients who have issues stemming from early emotional or physical
abuse. This manifests itself in low self esteem, depression, social and
employment problems and in relationship difficulties. In addition to working in
New York City, I also have an office in Lower Westchester County, NY and can be
reached at the telephone number provided above. I am also the Director of the
New York Counseling Service, a psychotherapy referral service located in the New
York Metro area. We refer only to senior therapists after consultation. My web
